Professor Ken Hillman is Professor of Intensive Care at Liverpool Hospital, South Western Sydney, and Foundation Director, The Simpson Centre for Health Services Research University of New South Wales - affiliated with Ingham Institute for Applied Medical Research.
Professor Hillman has been involved in research in RRS since the early 1990's. From that area, he became interested in the large numbers of elderly people who haven't been recognised as being at the end of life until an RR call is made. He now leads a large research team evaluating ways of recognising and appropriately responding to these people. He has published over 170 peer-reviewed articles; written 65 chapters in books, and has achieved over $24 million in peer-reviewed grants. He has recently written books and made films aimed at increasing public awareness of the medicalisation of dying.
